You can visit the historic location where Pepsi-Cola was created in 1898 by Caleb Bradham.
Located in the historic town of New Bern North Carolina is the site where Pepsi-Cola was invented by Caleb Bradham, a local pharmacist, who formulated the iconic taste of this uniquely American beverage in his pharmacy in 1898. This important and historical landmark of North Carolina and the nation is owned and operated by the Minges Bottling Group who opened the doors to the public in 1998 on the 100th anniversary of Pepsi-Cola.
New Bern is an absolutely wonderful town to visit. Founded in 1710 and located at the confluence of two rivers, it is the second oldest city in North Carolina and was home to the original state capitol. It has more than 150 historic homes and buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places giving it charm and culture that is almost unmatched. The beach is only 45 minutes away from New Bern and the local airport provides easy connections to the major hubs in the region.
The Birthplace of Pepsi is located at 256 Middle Street in Downtown Historic New Bern; right on the corner of Middle and Pollock Streets. Downtown New Bern has a variety of quaint shops and restaurants and is a busy place with street parking and public parking lots located about a 5 minute walk from the center of Downtown. There are restroom facilities inside the store and they are open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sundays from 12 noon until 4pm.
When you enter the Birthplace of Pepsi you will feel like you have stepped back in time. The Minges family along with managing partner Sabrina Bengel have been exceptional stewards of this historical site creating a wonderfully entertaining, informative and refreshing site to honor the history of an American classic – Pepsi-Cola.
You can enjoy a Pepsi from the fountain or sip one from the bottle as you wander through the store learning all about the history of Pepsi. You can also speak with the friendly and helpful staff who know everything about Pepsi and would be happy to answer any of your questions. There are also numerous gifts and souvenirs that you can browse through to find the perfect item for the Pepsi fan in all of us.
